Decorating your New Home for Christmas

Arguably everyone’s favourite time of the year, Christmas, is just around the corner. You want to do anything and everything to get into the festive spirit, but putting up the Christmas tree just isn’t enough. You want to create a cohesive Christmas display that almost tells a story as you travel throughout the home. If it is also your first festivity in your new home you might also want to make this Christmas extra special. So now that we have established that going all out this year is a no brainer, how can you do this without breaking the bank?
Your home’s greeting card

The front door of your home is what guests see first. It’s the first opportunity you have to make a statement before they enter, and show them exactly what they can expect inside. A simple wreath made out of holly always looks great and adds an element of Christmas cheer to your door. The addition of ribbon, baubles, flowers or even festive fruit can help elevate this statement to a whole new level.

The Centrepiece

Just because you aren’t necessarily sitting at the dining room table every second of every day, doesn’t mean it should be unacknowledged. Creating a centrepiece for your table makes the space warm and inviting and is a simple way to decorate your home during Christmas. The use of festive scented candles will leave the space smelling wonderful during the day. Adding greenery will also add colour to the space, whilst also working with the front door display.

The Tree

Without a doubt the most obvious Christmas symbol is the iconic Christmas Tree. There is nothing quite like the look and smell of a real tree in your home during the festive season. If a real tree isn’t for you, there are an abundance of artificial options available. Although green is the most common colour tree, there are many options out there that may better suit your space. Decorating with baubles and tinsel is perfect but why not elevate your tree this year with some freshly baked gingerbread which has quickly been becoming more and more popular. Make sure you don’t forget to wrap all those presents in wrapping paper, that can also be on theme and add to your living room atmosphere.

The extra touches

Although turning your house into a Christmas wonderland may not be for you, there are still a myriad of little touches you can add to bring your home to life. Making your own decorations is a way to bring the family together whilst also adding to your home’s decor. From gingerbread houses to even something as simple as cardboard cut outs of reindeers. Adding small things around the house such as candles not only fills the home with beautiful aromas but also adds a real spiritual and calming element to the space.

The festive season is always such an exciting time where families come together and celebrate, and even more so if it’s your first Christmas in your new home. You want to make your home feel warm and welcoming whilst showcasing all it has to offer. From decorations to the tree and all the little touches in between, you are sure to create a space that you love this Christmas. Get in touch with us today!
