Lofty Display Homes in Adelaide – visit one of our transient displays

Because we’re a custom home builder, we don’t have traditional display homes—instead, we have transient displays. These are our finished homes that are for sale and used as display homes pending purchase.

By inspecting one of our transient displays, you’ll see the superb quality of our workmanship in real homes for real people—so you can relax and not worry about the craftsmanship of a display home not matching the end product.

And because our portfolio is constantly moving and changing, there will always be something new and exciting to help inspire your next custom home or development.

Our transient displays also allow us to pass additional savings onto you, since we don’t have large overheads associated with maintaining traditional display homes.

Display Homes FAQs

What is the difference between a display home and a transient display home?

Display homes are what showrooms are to car dealers or furniture retailers – they are a way for builders to showcase their capability, quality, expertise and the different styles and features of different home designs to allow you to experience their look and feel. These homes are typically located in a village, for an up-and-coming land parcel or development allowing you to view a variety of homes from a variety of builders all at once. These homes are built with the intention of showcasing the best of what these builders have to offer, they are, after all, a sales tool and oftentimes are not realistic to replicate due to the excess cost of building such extravagant homes, with the highest quality, fixtures, fittings and feature pieces.

Our transient display homes on the other hand are our finished homes that are for sale and used as display homes pending purchase. These are real homes, built for real people so by visiting one of these homes, you’ll get a feel for the quality craftsmanship you can expect in your own Lofty home. The homes are regarded as transient as they are always moving and changing, allowing you to still experience a range of our home designs across Adelaide while keeping our stock fresh.

Are your display homes available to purchase?

Yes! Once we secure the sale of a home, we cease using it as a display, so anything you see, unless already sold, is available to purchase, but on a first-in-best-dressed basis.

Please note that the homes are sold unfurnished.

Where can I see the floor plan for each display home?

The floor plans of the homes are accessible by clicking ‘More Info’ on the location of your choosing above, alternately, we have flyers available within the homes detailing the plans and inclusions if you like what you see.

What areas does Lofty build in?

At Lofty, we’re proud to build across South Australia, however, we primarily service the greater Adelaide metropolitan area. Not sure if we build in your suburb? Please contact us to find out.

Why are display homes never standard?

One argument as to why display homes are never standard is because they represent the latest in home and interior design trends as well as showcasing the latest construction techniques, innovative materials, on-trend schemes, furnishings and more, giving them an “edge”.

As we mentioned in one of our previous answers, at the end of the day, these homes are a sales tool, specifically designed and built to impress potential buyers enough to sign a contract with a builder. They are hardly ever replicated exactly as they appear because sometimes the homes are not as liveable as they seem. Only the best products, materials and trades go into and work on these homes, meaning they are more often than not, not an accurate reflection and representation of what you can expect when you build your home, whether that be due to budget constraints or something else entirely. Don’t get us wrong, these homes serve their purpose, but should not be the single deciding factor when evaluating builders.

Are display homes a good investment?

Honestly, it depends on your situation and use of the home. While display homes feature premium designs and finishes and are always impeccably presented and maintained with significant investment in things such as landscaping too, which isn’t cheap. They are also often located in the best spot of a new development, whether that be opposite feature parks and reserves, granted easy access or convenience. Display homes within a village are also surrounded by other quality homes which is a huge drawcard when on-selling or renting.

But it’s important to remember when buying these homes that finance is not as straightforward, there is limited to no opportunity to customise the home and the home is not brand new by the time you take full ownership of it from the builder. It’s up to you to determine if the purchase of/investment in a display home is right for you.

Why should I visit a display home?

If you’re in research mode when building a home, display homes are a valuable tool, but it is vital that you remember the homes are there to impress you. Don’t let the fancy entrance and elevated ceiling heights cloud your judgement! Visiting a display home will allow you to assess the quality of the finishes within the home as well as what brands a builder uses, while also allowing you to get in the zone and visualise and experience a space/floor plan for yourself to truly understand the flow and if it will work for you.
